Trunk or Treat at City Hall SundayThe city’s Trunk or Treat will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Bring the kids and enjoy an evening of trick-or-treating around decorated vehicles, face painting, a pumpkin patch and games. A costume contest will be at 6:30 p.m. with prizes awarded for first and second place. Costume contest categories are ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-adult. (Kid-friendly costumes, please). Participating Trunk or Treat organizations include Volusia Hispanic Chamber, Daytona Tortugas, Marine Corps League of Daytona, Purple Heart Chapter 316, Beachside Neighborhood Watch, a club from Latitude Margaritaville and Daytona Beach's Fire, Police and Leisure Services departments. Daytona Beach City Hall is at 301 S. Ridgewood Ave. Free parking is available on Orange Avenue and Palmetto Avenue (limited) and behind the shops on Beach Street and then walk to nearby City Hall. City staff walking tour of Midtown area is Nov. 4Join City Manager Deric C. Feacher and staff for a walking tour of the Midtown area Thursday, Nov. 4.
Senior staff from the City Manager’s Office, Development Services, Economic and Redevelopment, Code Enforcement, Planning, Zoning, Permits and Licensing, Public Works, Leisure Services, Utilities, Police and Communications will help identify areas where businesses can grow, seek better rezoning for greater use of properties, locate code issues and discuss how the city can best position itself as a destination of choice. The Midtown tour will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Dickerson Community Center at 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (MLK). Midtown streets to be toured include MLK, International Speedway Boulevard, Nova Road, Orange Avenue, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, Ridgewood Avenue, George W. Engram Boulevard and Mason Avenue. The tour is expected to end at 3 p.m.

Tour a Small Footprint Home ThursdayIf you have heard about small footprint homes as an affordable housing option, you’ll have a chance to tour one Thursday, Nov. 4, at Allen Chapel AME Church located at 580 George W. Engram Blvd.
From noon to 5 p.m., Cornerstone Design Build will have a 432-square-foot unit available for the public to tour.

Entries accepted for city’s annual Christmas ParadeCalling all businesses, community groups and local organizations – entries are now being accepted for the city’s Bright Lights & Merry Nights Christmas Parade presented by Brown & Brown Insurance.

City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is Nov. 6Residents can dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste during a free event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the city’s Public Works facility, 950 Bellevue Ave.
Items accepted include paint and paint thinners, solvents, pesticides, fertilizers, household and pool chemicals, batteries, anti-freeze, car wax, light bulbs, motor oil and propane tanks.
Materials not accepted are fuel, gas cans, tires or lawn equipment.
