Santa Run parade and photos with Santa are tonight

By popular demand, the city’s Santa Run has been expanded to eight miles and will start at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Dec. 14). Police officers, firefighters and city leaders will escort Santa through Daytona Beach’s neighborhoods. The moving vehicle parade will begin start in the Derbyshire area and wind through residential streets until ending at the Midtown Cultural & Educational Center, 925 George E. Engram Blvd., where Santa will pose for pictures and refreshments will be available.

Midtown Center to be renamed Saturday to honor Cherry family

Make sure to join us at 9 a.m. Saturday morning as we honor Julia T. and Charles W. Cherry Sr. The Midtown Educational & Cultural Center at 925 George W. Engram Blvd. is being renamed the Julia T. and Charles W. Cherry Sr. Cultural & Educational Center to commemorate the couple’s legacy and philanthropic contributions to Daytona Beach. The ceremony is open to the public.

Last commission meeting of the year is Dec. 21

A December to Remember at the Riverfront Esplanade

Start a new holiday tradition this year while exploring the new Riverfront Esplanade overlooking the Halifax River in downtown Daytona Beach. A December to Remember at the Riverfront Esplanade is a multi-day extravaganza filled with community events, a movie on the lawn, holiday bazaar, Santa sightings, live music and more. A December to Remember is daily from 6 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 31.

Tickets on sale Thursday to see Chase Rice at the Bandshell

Tickets will be on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, for a concert by Chase Rice, with special guest Read Southall Band, performing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Daytona Beach Oceanfront Bandshell. Tickets will be available online or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Peabody Box Office. Ticket prices range from $40 - $55 plus applicable surcharges.

Tickets on sale Friday for “Theresa Caputo Live! The Experience” at Peabody Auditorium

Theresa Caputo, better known to millions of fans as the “Long Island Medium” from TLC’s hit reality series, will be appearing live at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Peabody Auditorium. Through personal stories about her life and explaining her gift to communicate with those who have passed on, Caputo will deliver healing messages to audience members, comforting them with the revelation that their deceased loved ones are still with them-- just in a different way. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and can be purchased online or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Peabody Box Office.

“The Experience” brings Caputo face-to-face with her fans as Spirit guides her through the audience. A full-stage video display ensures that everyone in the theater has an up-close experience regardless of seat location. “The Experience isn’t about believing in mediums.
