Topping Out Ceremony for Jackie Robinson Ballpark Renovation ProjectOn Monday, the final steel component in Daytona Beach’s Jackie Robinson Ballpark Renovation Project was hoisted in a ceremonial beam-raising, known as a “topping out.” The ceremony signifies the completion of the building’s structural framework. Upgrades to the historic ballpark started in late 2024 and are expected to be completed in early 2026. The project modernizes the landmark stadium with: - A 30,000-square-foot, multi-story player development facility
- Home and away clubhouses
- Indoor batting cages and fitness areas
- Upgraded dugouts and accessible parking
- New team stores, offices, club seating and infrastructure improvements
The project’s first phase remains on schedule and within budget.

Daytona Beach to Honor Purple Heart RecipientsDaytona Beach will honor Purple Heart recipients during a special ceremony. - When: Wednesday, Aug. 6, 5:45 p.m.

Mayor Derrick L. Henry, city officials and community veteran organizations will recognize the sacrifices of combat-wounded service members. National Purple Heart Day is Thursday, Aug. 7. The ceremony is presented by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 316, Zone 4 City Commissioner Stacy Cantu and Zone 3 City Commissioner Quanita May. The public is encouraged to attend.

After-School Program Registration OpenThe City of Daytona Beach is accepting registrations for its after-school program at Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave. The program is for students in grades K-8 and runs Monday through Friday, Aug. 11 to May 28, from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. Activities include homework assistance, arts and crafts, and indoor and outdoor games. - Cost: $905 per child. Monthly payment plans are available.

City Accepting Vendor Applications for New Artisan Market at YSGThe city is launching a new monthly Artisan Market this fall at the Yvonne Scarlett-Golden Cultural & Educational Center.
