DEC. 3, 2025Here are the highlights from today’s City Manager’s Update: - Citywide Road Resurfacing Program
The city is entering the sixth year of its popular road resurfacing and restoration program. To date, nearly 168 lane miles have been repaved, about 34% of the road network has been improved, 1.8% reconstructed through full-depth reclamation, and 188 sidewalk ramps have been upgraded for ADA compliance. This year’s $4.88 million program will resurface 22 additional lane miles, with work starting in early 2026. A list of proposed streets can be found at www.DaytonaBeach.gov/RoadRepaving. - Water Meter Replacement Project
VEPO Metering has replaced 3,227 of more than 13,000 residential water meters and completed 641 lead service inspections. Crews are expected to ramp up to 15–20 installers, completing 150–200 replacements per day and keeping the project on track for March completion. The new meters provide more accurate water-use data, so some customers may see higher bills due to more precise readings. - New Dog-Friendly Beach Area
A 1.7-mile stretch of beach between Williams Avenue and Seabreeze Boulevard is now open to leashed dogs during daylight hours. The area includes multiple vehicle ramps, nearly 300 off-beach parking spaces and two pedestrian walkovers. Pet owners must keep dogs leashed, pick up after them and avoid marked wildlife areas.
- Infrastructure Projects “In the Works”
