The Daytona Beach Main Street Arch, a symbol of Daytona Beach’s rich history, is under construction. The iconic arch, which has connected the boardwalk and pier since the 1930s, holds decades of memories for locals and tourists. As a unique piece of the city's history, the over $800,000 restoration project seeks to bring new life to the arch while preserving its original character.
Restoration efforts began when engineers discovered exterior cracking of the arch. Once crews assessed the arch, they identified deteriorated steel and concrete inside the historic arch. A comprehensive restoration plan was created and is now underway for the nearly 90-year-old landmark.
Work on the Main Street Arch is moving forward with more noticeable progress! Crews are currently focused on the west side and the top of the arch, finalizing structural and aesthetic details. The coquina stonework, a key feature of the design, is expected to be finished by the end of this month. The project is anticipated to be finished this summer. The project is anticipated to be finished this summer.
