On Monday, Aug. 4, Florida’s My Safe Florida Home program started accepting applications from low-income seniors for grants to help strengthen their homes against storm damage.
The program offers free home inspections and funding to improve features such as roofs, windows and doors, helping homes better withstand hurricanes. Qualified homeowners can receive up to $10,000 in matching funds. For every $1 a homeowner spends, the state contributes $2. These improvements may reduce insurance premiums and minimize costly storm repairs.

- Aug. 18: Low-income homeowners of any age
- Sept. 1: Moderate-income homeowners age 60+
